Unsure about your Career ? This is what you should do
Dedicated for the young adult who have quarter life crisis.

Everyone have something that they want to do in life, the problem is, we need money to do that, thus we keep our unhappy job. This article is dedicated for young adult that still didn’t know what is the best suitable career for themselves.
Your situation maybe quite hard to explain, we all have our own circumstances and personal dreams. But the first advice that I would give for every people that still unsure about their career is taken from Sun Tzu.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” -Sun Tzu
Yes, that is the quote from his book, The Art of War. Although we are not at war, this quote has really helped me a lot. So the first thing that you need to do if you are unsure about your future is to find yourself.
But be aware! Do this in your spare time, don’t quit your job because you don’t like it right away, at least you have to find another boat first before you jump!
How to Find Yourself
There are several methods on how to know yourself more, I would suggest doing the Big 5 Personality Test, or the most effective way in my opinion is try a lot of things and see which one you enjoy the most. You also need to be lucky to find your passion but if you try doing bunch of stuff to find what your passion is, I’m pretty sure your luck will increase the more it get the chance to shine. And before trying something new find friends who already done that and let them share their experience beforehand. I know experience is the best teacher, but so does another person’s experience. You can learn a lot of stuff and decide whether you want to try something while listening to your friend’s experience.
Your own experience is indeed the best teacher, but so does another person’s experience.
I also want to share that there is this Japanese method called Ikigai, you might want to list every skill, hobbies, and interest that you have and find the intersection.
Do Market Research
The second step is to research how do you get money by doing something that you like, is there a market for it ? In Ikigai, this also answer the blue one which is (“what you can be paid for”). In my opinion this is quite easy since Youtube, Instagram, and bunch of social media can get you money and get you clients.
But if you don’t have any idea on how to market your skills in companies. You can just record what you like to do and upload it at Youtube. I mean there is this guy who only sits in the corner of his room for four hours and people still watch them at Youtube. Also Mr Beast counts 1 to 10.000 in his early videos so there must be someone who watch your video doing what you like. Just upload it consistently.
I also suggest you to learn some marketing. Pablo Picasso and Van Gogh is both a famous painter, but Van Gogh died as a poor person, while Pablo Picasso can enjoy his wealth while he was still alive. The difference is Pablo Picasso knows how to market his paintings. He contacted the local government to do an auction for charity using his paintings so the government can build a better public images, while he also invited a bunch of famous people to come at the auction since they will get a connection with government officials and that’s how his painting’s price skyrocketed.
Hone Your Skills
The last step is, if you already find something that you like to do, let’s say it’s painting. But your painting sucks, your friends hates them. What you have to do is paint more. The cheat way that I like to imprint in my head is just do it 10,000 times, I’m pretty sure you will be an expert after that. Bruce Lee also once said I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
